What does Barry county 911 provide?

About Us

 

 Located at 2600 Nashville Rd, our facility is home to both Barry County Central Dispatch and the Emergency Management Office. Staffed 24/7, we manage all emergency and non-emergency calls within Barry County, dispatching Police, Fire, and EMS services to ensure the safety and well-being of our community. 

 

Barry County Central Dispatch is solely funded through a dedicated millage. This millage provides the financial support necessary to carry out essential services, including:

  • Processing emergency calls: Ensuring that all 911 calls are answered and handled promptly.
  • Next Generation 911: Upgrading and maintaining the technology needed for advanced, digital 911 services.
  • Salaries for Emergency Communications Officers: Compensating the dedicated professionals who manage calls and dispatch critical services.
  • Maintaining equipment and networks: Ensuring that all communication tools and systems are fully operational at all times.
  • Operations and maintenance of critical infrastructure: Keeping the facilities and technology up to date to ensure reliable emergency response.

This millage is crucial for the continued operation and improvement of emergency services in Barry County.

At Barry County 911, we are equipped with advanced technology to help us respond quickly and accurately. We have the ability to receive a caller's location directly from cell phone providers, which helps us pinpoint your location in emergency situations. There are times when additional tools are needed to ensure we can find you swiftly these tools include applications such as Rapid SOS. This is a location application that provides us with enhanced, real-time GPS data from your mobile device, even when traditional location information is unavailable.

 

 As technology in the 911 field continues to evolve, we are committed to utilizing the best available tools to provide faster, more accurate responses and improve overall safety for our community.
